How to Unlock Competitive Mode in Overwatch 2

Are you looking to be the next big Overwatch 2 e-sports star? Here's how to unlock competitive mode in Overwatch 2.

With the release of Overwatch 2, many players are eager to jump into this fast-paced, team-based first-person shooter. However, for new players, not everything will be unlocked immediately, including heroes and game modes. For those who want to enter into the Competitive Mode to reach higher levels of play, it is not immediately apparent what needs to be done to unlock it. Here is everything players need to know on how to unlock Competitive Mode in Overwatch 2.

Unlocking Competitive Mode in Overwatch 2

To unlock competitive mode in Overwatch 2, players must win 50 matches in the Quick Match mode. While the other modes, such as Arcade and Custom Matches, are fun, players must earn their wins in Quick Match to fully prepare for the type of gameplay they will face in Competitive Mode.

When first starting in Overwatch 2, players will only be able to enter into Quick Matches, Arcade, and Custom Matches. The option for them to select Competitive Mode will be locked.

Helping New Players Learn the Ropes

Not only will winning 50 games help players prepare for higher-level play, but new players must also complete 100 games to unlock all of the heroes. This process allows them to both unlock all the heroes and earn Competitive Mode at the same time.

For those who have already played the original Overwatch, as long as they were at a minimum of level 25 before the release of Overwatch 2, they will be able to jump right into Competitive Mode.
