According to a tweet from Mark Rubin, executive producer at Ubisoft and former EP on Call of Duty, Ranked Play is coming to XDefiant today. Beginning at 10 a.m. PST, Ranked Play will be enabled on the current Closed Beta build of XDefiant.
According to Rubin, this is an early pre-alpha version of Ranked mode. Icons and tier names are all temporary, and the Ranked Play formula is untested on a large scale.
Ranked Play mode will include Occupy (with a set pattern of points), Domination (with half-time and side switch), as well as Escort and Zone Control (where players play both sides). The team that gets the furthest on Offense wins the match.
During this one-day test, the Normal Play (unranked) mode will be disabled, so everyone will be forced to choose Ranked Play, presumably so Ubisoft can gather plenty of data and feedback. The good news is that both Normal Play and Ranked Play will be available starting Friday.
