Atomic Heart has released a new trailer titled “The Atomic Way” featuring Jensen Ackles from The Boys, which may help sway some previously skeptical gamers.
Well, if Atomic Heart was having trouble winning over the acceptance of the gaming community, they might have just done so with a pretty amazing Atomic Heart trailer titled “The Atomic Way,” staring none other than Soldier Boy from The Boys, Jensen Ackles.
Atomic Heart “The Atomic Way” Trailer
The nearly 2-minute long trailer depicts a small girl (a riff of the incredibly popular Hogwarts Legacy) trying to cast a spell on one of the game’s killer robots.
Though the wizarding spells don’t work, what does work is Ackles, with the game’s signature metallic mace made of saw blades.
What’s with the “Very American” in the Headline?
For those that don’t know, there was an online controversy surrounding Atomic Heart and its ties with the Russian government as some in the community alleged the possibility that the game could help fund Russia in the war in Ukraine. While the game’s developers, Mundfish, have denied these claims, there is still a small minority in the community that plan to boycott the game.
As pointed out by others online, while Atomic Heart’s main premise (the Soviet Union developing AI robots) is Russia-centric, in the sense that this Fallout-esque world is set in what was the USSR, it’s not necessarily the ideal depiction of the country, as killer androids lurking around every corner probably isn’t the most fun place to live.
Either way, we have been unable to verify whether there is any merit to the claims, and Mundfish has since updated its terms of service to remove any mentions of Russia.
We’ve reached out to those working on the game for comment but have yet to hear a response.
