Darkest Dungeon 2 is the perfect game for the Steam Deck, and developers, Red Hook Studios, seems to agree.
Darkest Dungeon 2 was just released on May 8, and I’ve got to admit, I’m already addicted. And that’s saying a lot, considering I’m not really a roguelike fanatic. There’s just something about the aesthetic, characters, and gameplay that make the game feel satisfying and addictive, even if I’m still struggling to make it past the game’s first chapter. One of the best parts of the game is how you can just pick it up and continue your run whenever (just make sure you’re near an Inn), making it the perfect title for a platform like the Steam Deck.
Is Darkest Dungeon 2 Coming to Steam Deck?
Yes, Red Hook Studios, the developers of Darkest Dungeon 2, are currently working on a Darkest Dungeon 2 Steam Deck-compatible version. In the same developer update post, they also announced development for gamepad support.
According to the developers:
We are happy to report that we are currently working on both gamepad support and Steam Deck support for Darkest Dungeon II. These are both highly requested features. While we don’t have a firm ETA, know that they are both very much in the works.
Darkest Dungeon 2 is Perfect for the Steam Deck
The nice thing about Darkest Dungeon 2 is that players can play as fast or slow as they want, making it the perfect game for a handheld device. Combine that with the pretty clean interface and impressive but simple cell-shaded graphics, and you’ve got a game perfect for your daily commute to work or school.
Luckily, Red Hook Studios agrees and seems to be prioritizing Steam Deck compatibility.
