Elden Ring has returned for another update. The FromSoftware souls-like magnum opus brings several balance changes to the game, hoping to serve more variety to combat. Here’s what’s in Elden Ring 1.07 patch notes, including in-depth details on some of the most significant changes.
Elden Ring 1.07 Patch Notes (October 13)
Here’s what’s new in the Elden Ring 1.07 Patch:
- Armor and shield balancing
- PvP balance adjustments
- Changes to Magic and Incantations
- Bugfixes
See below for a more in-depth breakdown of some of the changes.
Armor and Shield Balancing
Fingerprint shields and Bull Goat armor shrug off most hits in PvP. Powerful, but it’s not fun fighting a living wall. With the Elden Ring 1.07 patch, the gap is closing, with most armors granting more Poise.
Meanwhile, nearly everything now deals more Poise and Stamina damage. The Fingerprint shield, in particular, has lower guard strength, and shield-boosting skills have a weaker effect on the stronger shields.
Many incantations are now boasting more staggering power on their charged forms too. Now Players can better power through blocks and armor.
PvP Balance Adjustments
Crouch attacks for Colossal swords have been nerfed while other attacks have been buffed, including in speed and recovery time on average, while making poke attacks much weaker. Many weapons are getting this buff to encourage weaving skills between normal attacks.
Some of the changes are for PvP only. The special attacks granted by Ashes of War have been decreased in power in most cases. Seeing as many of the same attacks are also mentioned in the buffs section, this is probably to keep from becoming too strong in PvP specifically.
Changes to Magic and Incantations
Many wide-hitting incantations have also been weakened, including most of the Dragon Communion breath attacks. There are no changes to Vyke’s War Spear, so keep that Focus stat high.
The developers have also announced that they are giving PvP its own weapon/skill/incantation scaling going forward. This and the other changes mark a running trend with the Elden Ring 1.07 Patch–FromSoftware’s desire to have players use different weapons and attacks.
Here’s hoping it does just that.
In addition to these changes, FromSoftware also fixed a massive list of bugs in the game. Players can read the full list of changes on the Elden Ring Blog.
Still no Madness buffs for PvE. Maybe next time. Read our News Section while you consider rebirthing your character; you’ve got larval tears, right?
