If you’ve played Dinkum for a bit, you probably know that building a thriving town requires many resources and materials. One of those materials includes different kinds of ore you can find across the map. After successfully mining tin and copper ore, you might find yourself searching for iron ore deposits and coming up empty. Luckily, we know exactly how you can find iron ore in Dinkum.

Where to Find Iron Ore in Dinkum?

Iron Ore is located in the map’s brown and light brown areas. Typically, you’ll find many metal deposits and large rocks in these areas.

Hitting Large Rocks to Find Random Ores

The large rocks contain Iron, and don’t look like other ore nodes. Keep in mind that the ore that drops from the rocks are randomized, so you may have to hit a few stones before you find one that contains Iron Ore.

Putting Shiny Stones in the Rock Grinder for More Iron Ore

The last place you might find Iron Ore is inside of the Shiny Stones you gather from breaking stones in Dinkum. Place the Shiny Stone inside of the Rock Grinder, and it will spit out different ore. Sometimes the result is Iron Ore!

And there you have it, those are the main locations for Iron Ore in Dinkum.

How to Mine Iron Ore in Dinkum

Unlike the lesser ores of Copper Ore and Tin Ore, Iron Ore requires a Level 2 Mining Licence and a Copper Pickaxe. In addition, your home-built ore furnace is not going to cut it, you’ll need to upgrade to the more expensive Furnace from John for 30,800 Dinks.

Here’s how to Mine Iron Ore in Dinkum:

  1. Visit Fletch and purchase the Mining Licence Level 2 for 1,000 Permit Points.
  2. Buy a Basic Pickaxe from John if you don’t have one already.
  3. Upgrade your Basic Pickaxe to a Copper Pickaxe at the Crafting Table.
  4. Find a large rock. See above for an image of the rock.
  5. Hit it with your pickaxe.
