If you really want to play Darkest Dungeon 2 but don’t have the PC to run it, we answer whether the game will make its way to Xbox or PlayStation.
Darkest Dungeon 2, the roguelike set in a dark world and developed by Red Hook Studios released for PC via Steam and The Epic Games Store on May 8, 2023, but many console owners are probably wondering when the game will make it to their platform of choice. In this article, we’ll answer whether Darkest Dungeon 2 is coming to Xbox or PlayStation consoles.
Is Darkest Dungeon 2 Releasing on Xbox or PlayStation Consoles?
Yes, Darkest Dungeon 2 will eventually make its way to consoles, according to the official Darkest Dungeon Twitter account, which specifically mentions the console release in the following tweet:
We have a lot of Darkest Dungeon 1 players on console and will definitely be making Darkest Dungeon 2 available on console as well. However, we are not yet ready to confirm specific platforms or dates, beyond confirming that console releases will follow the May 1.0 release.
When Will Darkest Dungeon 2 Be on Consoles?
While the developers have not stated a window for a console release, if it is anything like the original Darkest Dungeon, it should only take a few months. The original game’s full release occurred on January 19, 2016, with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita release happening later that year on September 27, 2016. The Xbox One release date occurred a bit later, on February 28, 2018, though the developers have been tight-lipped on whether the game will make it to Xbox earlier this time around.
So, if we were to apply the same logic to the sequel in the franchise, we should expect a console release sometime before February 2024. Hopefully, however, the game will release on consoles before then so that more people can experience this challenging but fun roguelike game.
