If you’re looking to raise the fertility of your crops in Pharaoh: A New Era, crop irrigation is your solution. Here’s how to do it.
Crop irrigation in Pharaoh: A New Era increases crop fertility, which in turn helps your farmers produce more food. Irrigation is especially useful in meadows, which grow crops like Pomegranate Farms, as meadows don’t produce as much food as crops planted on floodplains. Keep reading if you’re wondering how to irrigate crops but feel a little lost.
How to Irrigate Crops in Pharaoh A New Era
In the game, digging out irrigation ditches and loading them with water can significantly increase the fertility of any crop. This works both on floodplains and meadows and is a great way to create a continuous supply of food for your settlement. To build an irrigation system, build a Water Lift on a grassy area adjacent to the water. From here, connect a Road and Irrigation Ditch to the lift. Ensure that you have enough workers to man the lift, and the ditch should fill up with water.
If you are having trouble placing the Water Lift, make sure that you’re building it on a straight edge that’s large enough to accommodate the structure.
Irrigation ditches intersect under roads, so don’t worry about crossing over streets. From here, build your Farms around the filled irrigation ditch, and you should see your fertility skyrocket. To view fertility, click the farm in question.
Building an irrigation system in Pharaoh: A New Era is a great way to increase food production, which in part enables you to build fewer farms and improves your overall production efficiency. If the option is available to you, we highly suggest building an irrigation system rather than forging it.
