Merge Games, creators of the popular survival game, Smalland: Survive the Wilds, recently announced via a blog post that the company has sold 200,000 copies of the newly-released title. For a smaller development company with just a few titles, including Bramble: The Mountain King and Spells and Secrets, it’s quite the feat.
In the post, the developers left the community a message:
We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has supported us on this incredible journey. Your passion, feedback, and enthusiasm have been invaluable in continuing to shape the game from drawings on a page into what it is today and what it will be when we launch from Early-Access.
Since its early access release on March 29, 2023, the game has seen several updates, the latest of which, dubbed Giant’s Fall, introduced new NPCs, Hornet mounts, and building materials.
At a sale price of $24.99, 200K copies sold is a pretty nice chunk of change, especially for an early access title — so we hope that it can contribute to the further development of the game, especially leading into its 1.0 release.
In our review of Smalland: Survive the Wilds, we gave it a “Good” rating of 4.4/5, and if the developers stay on this track, we can expect that the rating will only improve.
