After you deck out your character in Flint weapons and start progressing through the quests, you’ll eventually need to get your hands on some Heavy Chitin. Where to Find Heavy Chitin in Smalland
Heavy Chitin is a material that drops from Cockroaches and other larger insects. You can find Cockroaches at the Graylands, the area on the north side of the map. Cockroaches and insects of this size are no joke, so come prepared with bandages and at least Flint weapons.

Cockroaches drop a few different things, but they always seem to drop at least one to two Heavy Chitin, and these little bugs are abundant in the northern area of the map. You might also come across them in other areas, though. You can also kill the larger reddish-colored bees in the same area for Heavy Chitin.
Heavy Chitin becomes an important crafting material later on in the game when you’re looking to craft a Furnace and start making higher-tier Iron gear.
