Vampire Survivors: How to Unlock McCoy-Oni

Vampire Survivors‘ new DLC, Legacy of the Moonspell, introduced eight new playable characters to the mix, and if you’re an avid player, you probably want to unlock them as fast as possible. In this guide, we’ll be showing you how to unlock McCoy-Oni. Before you try to get this character, you will first need to unlock Babi-Onna, so give our guide a read if you’re unsure of what you need to do for that.

How to Unlock McCoy-Oni in Vampire Survivors

To unlock McCoy-Oni as a playable character in Vampire Survivors, you need to evolve the Mirage Robe. The Mirage Robe is Babi-Onna’s starting weapon, and to evolve it, you’ll need a maxed-out Mirage Robe plus an Attractorb.

J'Odore in Vampire Survivors

Unlike some evolution weapons, you will need to max out both the Attractorb (level five) and the Mirage Robe (level eight) before you try to find the Mirage Robe evolution inside any random chest. Like other upgrades, you can only evolve the Mirage Robe by looting a chest that drops from bosses or minibosses.

A quick way to do this is by choosing Babi-Onna, setting the max weapons to one, going into any stage on Hurry Mode, and then just stacking passives while leveling up the Mirage Robe. The evolved form of the Mirage Robe is called J’Odore, and it makes projectiles move and confuse enemies.

The early game can be tough with the Mirage Robe until you gain a few levels. Once you level it a bit, you can stand in the middle of all your clones to avoid getting hit. Once you get the evolution, you will have unlocked McCoy-Oni. You can then leave the game or finish out your run, whichever you prefer.

As for McCoy-Oni, he’s an interesting-looking character that makes Area temporarily increase at fixed intervals. That means skills that are more effective with a large area of effect can be good synergies.
