How To Use The Auspex Scanner in Warhammer 40K: Darktide

Have no idea how to use the scanner?

Is the scanning mission in Darktide completely confusing you? We don’t blame you; completing it took us a few tries. Luckily, using the Auspex Scanner in Darktide becomes much easier once you know how to use it and what you’re looking at. Simply put, the scanner is just that–a scanner, and you can use it to locate different points of interest that you’ll inspect to move further into the mission.

This mission is typically handed out by the Servo-Skull, a floating robotic skull that will make you follow it. If you’ve felt confused by this mission for a while, we’re here to help. Here’s how you can use the Auspex Scanner in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

How To Use The Auspex Scanner in Warhammer 40K: Darktide

You’ll need to use the Auspex Scanner when it says you need to scan in the top-right of your screen. To scan with the Auspex in Darktide:

  1. Hit 4 (keyboard) or right on the D-pad (controller) to pull out the Auspex.
  2. Hold right-click or left trigger to start scanning. You’ll see dots on the radar. Start moving towards those dots.
  3. As you get closer to the dots, the Auspex will beep faster. Point the Auspex toward the item (it will highlight) and hit left and right-click or left and right-trigger to scan the item.
  4. Once scanned, move on to the next target.

One confusing aspect you might encounter is if the items are on different levels. It may be on another floor if you feel you’re right on top of an object but can’t find it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you should toggle between your weapons and the Auspex while using it. You can use it to push enemies away, but you can’t actually kill them with it. Having your teammates back you up while you scan will significantly increase your success.

Using the Auspex could be clearer, especially because you may miss the dialogue that pops up. Did this mission give you issues? Let us know in the comments below.
