As you progress through Smalland, you’ll need better and better gear to take on more dangerous insects. Once you’re all done in the south and west side of the map, it’s time to head north, and it’s around that time when you’ll discover Iron. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find Iron in Smalland.
Where to Find Iron in Smalland
Iron can be obtained by mining piles of Scrap Metal with a Flint Pickaxe. The Scrap Metal piles are located in the Graylands, which is the area north of the forest on the map and home to the NPC named Mirmek.
Here’s a map of where to find Iron in Smalland:
You can also craft Iron Shards if you already have a Furnace using 1 Bottlecap, 1 Screw, and 1 Charcoal.
Note that there are Scrap Metal piles scattered all throughout this area. Head up there, preferably on a mount, and do some scavenging with your Flint Pickaxe. Discovering Iron Shards from the Scrap Metal piles will unlock a new item for you — the Spike Pickaxe.
The Spike Pickaxe requires 5 Fiber, 5 Resin, 5 Iron Shards, and 5 Refined Wood to craft at the Workbench. Iron is also important to gather once you unlock the Furnace after building a Windmill.
