Ghost Ship Games is on a roll. Just like Season 2, Season 4 is an escalation of the previous season, bringing new threats, mechanics, and more. It looks like a great time, and we’re eager to talk about the Deep Rock Galactic Season 4 release date and details.
Deep Rock Galactic Season 4 Critical Corruption Start Date
Season 4, titled Critical Corruption, begins June 15, 2023, on Steam. Console players will have access to this on June 22, 2023. It brings new enemies and some other fun surprises.
New Monsters in Critical Corruption
The infection is stepping up; a new mobile enemy called the Lithophage Corruptors will now appear in stages. These need to be treated with the cleaning devices introduced in Season 3, leaving them vulnerable to normal weapons. The Rock Pox has also adapted to the Mactera Bomber and Naedocyte Breeder. As with previously infected enemies, attacking the lithophage growths is key.
Hoxxes IV has brought its own flavor of fun to the party with 2 new enemies. The Glyphid Stingtail is built around grappling threats with its tail to pull towards its horns. It is joined by the Glyphid Septic Spreader, who creates caustic patches of ground. These will deal serious damage to miners caught unaware.
New Equipment and Loadout Options
Miners are getting limited access to jetboots to help combat these threats. There will be company lockers in stages that grant them after a little mini-game. The mini-game can be practiced back on the Space Rig. This should help for keeping up with the Lithophage Corruptor and dodging the new enemy types.
Miners can also randomize their equipment through a new brew at the bar or the usual menu. The brew specifically sounds like there might be an added bonus for completion, but we’re waiting on more information.
As with every season, there’s a new Season Pass to unlock cosmetics, resources and more. Any cosmetics not earned have joined the standard loot pool. We appreciate their willingness not to exclude the miners that are strapped for time.
