A new Dwarf Fortress patch v50.05, driven by the new developer Putnam addresses corrupted save files and includes other minor tweaks.
Hello, fellow Dwarf Fortress managers–there’s a new minor update straight from the developers, Bay 12 Games. The patch is fairly small but should alleviate headaches for players experiencing crashes. Below we’ve outlined what the developers have been up to since the holidays.
Dwarf Fortress Patch Notes (January 5, 2023)
Here’s what the developers fixed in the recent patch:
- Fixed saved corruption caused by certain armies bringing uninitialized protocreatures instead of monsters.
- Sped up line-of-sight code.
- Bees are no longer included in the food count.
The patch is fairly minor but should make way for bigger and better things in the future.
Dwarf Fortress Official Stream
If you didn’t know, the developers, Bay 12 Games, also host an official Dwarf Fortress stream over on Twitch with streamer SalfordSal. Every Monday from 8-10 p.m. EST and Saturday from 5-9 p.m. EST, they will be doing playthroughs of the game. Players can check it out on January 9 and 14, 2023.
For those who don’t know or missed it, a larger patch occurred before the holidays called patch 50.04, which addressed more issues, added more plant graphics, and updated engraved walls. In addition, if you’ve been playing the game, you should have a few new Steam cards in your inventory.
You can follow along with the developers on the Dwarf Fortress Steam page.
