Vampire Survivors added several new weapons and weapon evolutions in the Legacy of the Moonspell DLC, one of which is the Night Sword. The new weapon slashes the closest enemies and retaliates, and it also has a small 1% chance to spawn hearts when killing enemies, determined by your Luck stat. If you’re wondering how to evolve the Night Sword or even find one, we’ve got you covered in the guide below.
Before you can evolve a Night Sword, you will obviously need to find one first. The easiest place to find a Night Sword is by loading onto the new DLC map, Mt. Moonspell, opening the map, and looking for the red sword icon to the north. If you have Mad Groove, you can make the Night Sword come to you!
How to Evolve the Night Sword in Vampire Survivors
The Night Sword can be evolved by having a maxed-out Night Sword and Stone Mask and then looting a chest that drops from any boss or miniboss. After finding the evolution, the Night Sword evolves into Muramasa.
Muramasa is a strong weapon that enables critical hits and combo finishers and drains health. It’s also the starting weapon of Megalo Sayuuto Moonspell, one of the new characters’ upgraded forms. You can unlock Megalo Sayuuto by killing 100,000 enemies in a single run with Syuuto.
As for the upgraded Night Sword, Muramasa, the item ignores Speed and Duration, so if you’re looking to make the most of it and synergize with passives, you can ignore those stats.
It has about a 9% chance to generate hearts on kill and roughly a 10% critical chance (based on in-game experimentation) for double damage. Again, you can influence the critical chance by stacking more Luck.
One last thing to note is that it drains your character’s health, so you may want to negate this by getting regeneration with the Pummarola and other items. Arcanas like Slash can double the critical strikes again (4x base damage), and Divine Bloodline can increase your maximum health when enemies are killed via retaliation.
