If a Chainsword has just become available at the vendor and you’ve felt uber-disappointed in its abilities–it might be because you’re not using the Special Action function. Even though Darktide does its best job of showing players all the mechanics in the tutorial, let’s be honest–who’s actually paying attention? The Chainsword is a powerful melee weapon that Zelots, Psykers, and Veterans can posses.
Luckily, revving your Chainsword in Warhammer 40K: Darktide is simple, as long as you know what button to press. As a bonus, you can use this same method to use other weapons’ Special Actions, opening up a new world. Keep reading to learn how to rev you chainsword in Warhammer Darktide.
How to Rev Chainswords in Darktide
To rev your chainsword in Warhammer 40K: Darktide, use the Special Action button. For PC users, the default button is mouse button 5, typically the side mouse button; for controllers, the default button is the right thumbstick. Executing an attack after revving up your chainsaw, much like other Special Attacks in the game, will cause your character to dig deep into the enemy’s flesh and cause massive damage.
If you don’t possess a gaming mouse or have a regular mouse with no extra buttons, you can remap your keys and change your Special Action button to a keyboard key or an alternative button. See below for directions on how to do so.
How to Change Special Action Button in Darktide
To rebind your Special Action button or the button that you need to press to rev up your chainsword in Darktide:
- Hit Esc.
- Click Options.
- Select Keybindings.
- Click Weapon Special Actions.
- Press the key or button you want to rebind it to.
Unfortunately, there are currently no options to rebind actions on the controller, so if you have one, you’ll have to live with pressing the right thumbstick to rev up your chainsword.
