The first column of equipment is for your actual equipment, and the second column is for your cosmetics.
If you’re first starting out in Wild Hearts and don’t have a forge (or workbench) yet, you’ll need to progress a few minutes into the story. You will eventually get to build yourself a small camp. After you hunt down your first big prey is when you’ll be able to build the forge.
