Who is the Stalker in Vampire Survivors?

The Stalker is a boss that can appear on the Dairy Plant or The Bone Zone stages. It looks like Red Death but is green in appearance. The Stalker follows the player around for somewhere between one to two minutes. Stalker is not a guaranteed spawn, and it can show up at the following times:

  • 1% chance to spawn at the beginning of a round
  • 30% chance to spawn at the eight-minute mark of a round
  • 30% chance to spawn at the 12-minute mark of a round
  • Spawns at the 10:00 mark on The Bone Zone

The Stalker can only be killed with one of the following items:

  • Gorgeous Moon
  • Minecarts (on Dairy Plant)
  • Pentagram
  • Rosary

A treasure chest can drop from The Stalker upon death if killed with a Minecart. A high-quality treasure chest can spawn when killed with a Gorgeous Moon and Rosary.

Who is the Drowner in Vampire Survivors?

The Drowner is a boss that can appear on the Gallo Tower and The Bone Zone. In Gallo Tower, Drowner can be summoned by the Giant Crab at the monster wave at 25:00 into the run. The Drowner can also appear at the 30:00 wave alongside Death. Drowner is not a guaranteed spawn, and it can show up at the following times:

  • Spawned by the Giant Crab at 25:00 on Gallo Tower
  • Boss at 30:00 alongside Death (cannot defeat)
  • Spawns at the 20:00 mark on The Bone Zone
Vampire Survivors Drowner

Drowner can only be killed with one of the following items:

  • Gorgeous Moon
  • Rosary

It is also immune to freeze, knockback, and debuffs. Drowner drops a high-quality chest upon defeat. Drowner is much more difficult, as well as much more time-consuming, compared to The Stalker.

When do I press the buttons to unlock Toastie?

Finally, immediately after defeating the Stalker or Drowner, Toastie will pop up on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and say “Panini!” During this time, the player must quickly press the down arrow and enter to unlock Toastie. The window of opportunity to press these buttons is extremely short. For that reason, it’s important to spam them when either enemy is about to die.

In closing, the most consistent method to unlock Toastie is to load up Dairy Plant and defeat the Stalker with the minecart. It’s the most reliable method because you’ll know when it’s about to die, as opposed to a pentagram which is hard to predict.

What is Toastie a reference to?

Toastie is a reference to an easter egg in Mortal Kombat II. During a match, Dan Forden’s face had a chance to appear on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and say “toasty!” It’s the creation of Dan Forden, an iconic sound programmer and music composer who worked on video games developed by Midway and NetherRealm Studios. Since its inception, the “toasty” falsetto was included in several Mortal Kombat games and evolved throughout the years.

That’s how to unlock Toastie in Vampire Survivors, including all known methods to unlock the character and the origins of this easter egg.
