Darkest Dungeon 2 The Man-At-Arms Builds

The Man-At-Arms is a powerful frontline defensive tank. The best two builds for The Man-At-Arms include:

We’ll review each of the builds below — their strengths, weaknesses, and how to play them properly.

Tank Man-At-Arms Build

The Tank Man-At-Arms build is likely how most players will want to play him, as it plays into his defensive abilities the best. The ideal setup includes the following:

  • Combat Slot: 1, 2
  • Path: Sergeant
  • Skills: Crush, Hold the Line, Defender, Bolster, Stand Fast
  • Trinkets: Price of Pride, Standard of the Ninth, Undeserved Commendation

Players will use Crush as their main attack ability, but really the stars of the show here are the Defender and Bolster abilities.

The Defender ability Stacks two shields to both The Man-At-Arms and the selected ally, while Bolster will remove Vulnerable and 2 Stress when Stress is above 5. These two abilities enhance your entire team’s defense and serve as a primary Stress heal for your whole party.

DPS/Tank Man-At-Arms Build

While the Man-At-Arms is mainly used as a tank Hero, he can also be used to deal a bit more damage. The ideal setup includes the following:

  • Combat Slot: 1, 2
  • Path: Vanguard
  • Skills: Crush, Defender, Bolster, Retribution, Riposte
  • Trinkets: Price of Pride, Standard of the Ninth, Undeserved Commendation

The DPS/Tank Man-At-Arms build mostly because of the addition of the Retribution and Riposte skills. Players should build Riposte Tokens with Retribution, then unleash the attack using the Riposte skill.

Man-At-Arms Bolster Darkest Dungeon 2

Defender and Bolster still make up a main component of the build. Unfortunately, the max damage output for The Man-At-Arms pales in comparison to other melee Heroes, so you’ll still need to use his defensive abilities.

How to Play The Man-At-Arms

The Man-At-Arms should be used for both Stress healing and defending your entire team. He is powerful and capable of mitigating damage from heavy attacks that would otherwise kill your DPS or support characters.

The Man-At-Arms is a powerful tank that can be used even into the late game.
